Problem with Administrator Rights

Postby Hswaff » 23. March 2016 13:34

Hi,

I just installed XAMPP this morning, and have managed to resolve most errors, but one problem still remains on the Administrator rights ( error in bold):

11:55:53 [main] Initializing Control Panel
11:55:53 [main] Windows Version: Windows 8.1 64-bit
11:55:53 [main] XAMPP Version: 5.6.19
11:55:53 [main] Control Panel Version: 3.2.2 [ Compiled: Nov 12th 2015 ]
11:55:53 [main] You are not running with administrator rights! This will work for
11:55:53 [main] most application stuff but whenever you do something with services
11:55:53 [main] there will be a security dialogue or things will break! So think
11:55:53 [main] about running this application with administrator rights!

11:55:53 [main] XAMPP Installation Directory: "c:\xampp\"
11:55:53 [main] Checking for prerequisites
11:55:53 [main] All prerequisites found
11:55:53 [main] Initializing Modules
11:55:53 [main] Enabling autostart for module "Apache"
11:55:53 [main] Enabling autostart for module "MySQL"
11:55:53 [main] Starting Check-Timer
11:55:53 [main] Control Panel Ready
11:55:53 [Apache] Autostart active: starting...
11:55:53 [Apache] Attempting to start Apache app...
11:55:53 [mysql] Autostart active: starting...
11:55:53 [mysql] Attempting to start MySQL app...
11:55:54 [Apache] Status change detected: running
11:55:54 [mysql] Status change detected: running

My user is administrator level
XAMPP is installed in C:\xampp (not in Program files (x86)
I have set the UAC settings to never notify
I have made sure my user has full control over the xampp folder, subfolder and files, using the settings in file explorer.

But still I am getting this error message. Is there anything else I can try?

Many thanks!
H

Hi,

You don't need to set UAC to the lowest level.
Just open the control panel by rightclick -> run as Administrator

best wishes,

I right-click all over the control panel (the yellow band at the top of the screen is labeled "XAMPP Control Panel"), but I don't get any option to "run as administrator".

Could you be more specific where to right-click?

Have you opened the control panel already by the time you start right clicking?

Cuz that could be the problem. When you're about to open the program, instead of left clicking like usual, right click it.

There should be an option that says run as administrator. If it's not visible from the start, it might be visible under "More"

Thank you, so I quit xampp and right-clicked the xampp-control.exe file, which did have an option "run as administrator", and it opened just fine with administrator rights
