Clarification with license and installation

Postby CiccioPasticcio » 13. April 2016 16:23

Hello everybody,

I'm new to Apache, PHP, DB and all these things, so please be kind with me :)
(And I'm entry level in english, too... :))

Question 1:
I would like to install Xampp 7.0.4 in a pc which is property of the company I work for as an employee.
Could you please help me understand if the licenses of Apache, MariaDB, PHP and PhpMyAdmin included in this Xampp distribution enable me to install the software freely?
I hoped to read a copy of the license when I launched xampp-win32-7.0.4-0-VC14-installer.exe, but no license appeared.

Question 2:
When I launch the installer, I see this:

It looks like I can install only MySQL as a DB engine, but MySQL license doesn't suit me (apparently, if I'm not wrong, I have to pay to install MySQL in a pc used for work); I would like to install MariaDB, which license allow me to install it on a pc @ work (am I right?). How can I do it?

Thank you so much.

XAMPP 7.0.4 already comes with MariaDB. The öable MySQL in the installer is simply not correct.

Hi Altrea, thank you for the reply.

So, MariaDB will be installed and I don't need to select MySQL.

No, you need to check MySQL and this will not install MySQL but MariaDB
