Cannot configure a password for phpMyAdmin in ver. 7.00

Postby nutzer » 29. December 2015 07:23

Hello everyone

It's my first thread and I use XAMPP for Windows 7.00.

It used to be easy to set a password for XAMPP but with that version when I click the phpMyAdmin icon on the dashboard,
I get taken straight into the top menu of phpMyAdmin.
Would it always be this way? Configuring a password in config.inc.php results in error also. How would you set a password for phpMyAdmin?

Looking forward to replies.

Thank you for reading.

Yes.

There is no "password for phpMyAdmin" itself, you have a wrong understanding of phpMyAdmin. You can edit the Users of MySQL within phpMyAdmin and there you can give or change the Users passwords. phpMyAdmin uses one of these Users (mostly the Admin User "root") in order to login to MySQL.

You should also read the doc about phpMyAdmin, in order to understand the meaning of config.inc.php. You cannot set passwords in config.inc.php, instead you have to apply an existing User and password (optionally).
