MySQL shuts down after a few seconds

This just started happening after working OK.
I have recently upgraded to Windows 10 but XAMPP and MySQL were working fine till yesterday.
Now MySQL shuts down after a couple of seconds.
I've tried various suggestion offered in these forums but couldn't resolve (e.g. change apache and mysql ports, run xampp as admin and add service).
Please assist.
