Pls help : 404 error on localhost

Postby Subhadipsaha » 19. November 2015 05:53

Hi,

I am runnin Xampp 5.6.14 on Windows 8. Apache and MySQL starts fine. However, when I try to run localhost it gives a 404 error.

I have tried many things like disabling firewall and stopping microsoft programs but cant get through. I have also checked the htdocs folder, it is in the right place within C/xampp.

Can you please help

Contents of your Apache access.log?

Same story whether I use IE or Firefox.

Localhost remains unresolved, no URL shows. I have also tried 127.0.0.1 but that does not work either

Did you successfully start Apache? Did you change ANYTHING in the configuration (Port for example)?

Eventually I could start Apache after changing port 80 and 443 to 8080 and 44343 respectively

When you change port 80 to 8080, you MUST specify the port in the URL: enter http://localhost:8080 instead of http://localhost (and same for https, enter https://localhost:44343 instead of only https://localhost).
