upgrading to windows 10

To the developers of xampp or anyone that might know:
Will xampp be compatible with Windows 10? I plan on upgrading, but will being using xampp often. Any problems or issues I should be aware of?

I've been using 5.6.8 on Win10 preview in a limited way and haven't noticed any problems.

Why dont you ask Microsoft, if they are supporting Xampp in Windows10 furthermore? It is Windows, that changed, not Xampp.

Sorry Nobbie but i don't agree with that. It is not the responsibility of the base system to test it against all specific software available.
If that would be the case all questions here about possibility of running a specific webapplication or specific version of this webapplication on XAMPP would be valid.

The specific software or webapplication knows best which requirements it has and had to answer the question if it can run on base system x, y, z. That's the only way it can work.

I dont agree and this question is strange anyway. There is no Windows 10 Release (it comes next week), there is no specification in Xampp "works in Windows 10", this is crazy. As Xampp does not rely on hardware drivers, there *should* be no problem anyway and in that case i am still NOT with your opinion, OF COURSE Microsoft has to ensure that old executables still run under the new Windows, otherwise ALL(!!!) software products have to be ported to Windows10 - who would buy such an OS without any working applications?? Of course Microsoft MUST deliver an OS which grants binary compatibilty to existing software. Everything else would be the end of Windows (immediately and out of the box!).

Would you really agree when Windows 10 comes with a certain "Windows Look & Feel", but not with the standard Kernel and without the existing hardware / software layers, instead (for example) based on a completely new Linux Kernel, supporting NONE of existing Windows software, but offering a large compiler suite and with the option to develop (with best wishes and "good luck" from Microsoft) all your software products on this whole new OS. This is what you want? Because you are responsible for software under Windows, not Microsoft? Not really...

Indeed this is a very annoying problem of the development of Apache/MySQL/PHP etc, and that is what i tell since ever: it is a BAD MISTAKE, not to grant compatibilty to the older release. You may introduce new features, new syntax etc., but you MUST NOT loose compatibility I dont know why Apache Developers (or PHP Developers) change their specifications, so that old applications do not run any more. They do this very often and that is really WRONG. Microsoft of course avoids such changes AS FAR AS POSSIBLE. Of course, they did it also, but for example the pure user code (not kernel code) is still compatible downwards to the oldest Windows Binary in 16bit Mode from the last century. Microsoft only once or twice changed their driver model without compatibility mode (which was bad), but meanwhile they deliver a bunch of virtual machines, only to provide compatibilty to older Windows verisons. And this is, how it has to be.

Otherwise Microsoft would have disappeared from the market without any doubts. If you have a bunch of installation CDs oder DVDs at home, a disk full of installers - would you trash all these for Windows 10? And what about the products, that are not maintained any longer, but which are still working for you? Would you start without any applications? No, of course not. You simply would not use WIndows 10. And thats the way it is. Therefore Microsoft MUST deliver a compatible Windows. They cannot wait until all software is checked against the new release. They have to ensure compatibility by themselves.
