Error 404 except index

Hi,

I got my Joomla page up and running with xampp but only the index front-&backend site. As soon as I try to navigate onsite I get "Object not found". I figured I might have to disable readable URLs BUT if I try to do that I get "FTP: Unable to login". So I got two problems it seems. I tried the default ftp login data this did not work. I created a new user which did not help. What am I missing here?

This is a Joomla migration issue, not an XAMPP issue. So this questions should better be asked on one of the joomla support channels.
