Another case of Apache won't start

Postby Amatheya » 17. March 2015 23:26

Hi,

Apache has suddenly decided that it doesn't want to work.

I've checked that nothing else is using port 80, I haven't loaded any new software etc. I did make a couple of changes to the config file before it stopped working and at first I thought I must have messed something up but I had taken a copy before changing anything just in case, so I put everything back the way it was before I started messing around and it still didn't work... I'm not sure what else I can try.

The message I'm getting is:
10:22:35 PM [Apache] Attempting to start Apache app...
10:22:35 PM [Apache] Status change detected: running
10:22:36 PM [Apache] Status change detected: stopped
10:22:36 PM [Apache] Error: Apache shutdown unexpectedly.
10:22:36 PM [Apache] This may be due to a blocked port, missing dependencies,
10:22:36 PM [Apache] improper privileges, a crash, or a shutdown by another method.
10:22:36 PM [Apache] Press the Logs button to view error logs and check
10:22:36 PM [Apache] the Windows Event Viewer for more clues
10:22:36 PM [Apache] If you need more help, copy and post this
10:22:36 PM [Apache] entire log window on the forums

The error logs don't seem to have anything relevant in them so I'm at a loss :-(

And you really think, that we may know what you did wrong? How that?

Same for me, I cannot help without knowing anything about your installation and your changes. Uninstall Xampp and begin from scratch.

Nobbie - when I want to hear the sarcastic comments of a silly little boy who has nothing better to do with his time than putting people down when they are asking for help, you will be the first person I turn to. However, for now if you can't say anything polite and helpful please do not bother saying anything at all.

Altrea - Thank you so much for the tip. I tried what you suggested and it lead me straight to the problem. I'm now back up and running. You're a star!!! :-)

And why don't you tell us what the problem was, so that other people can get a benifit from your request in our board?

btw: Nobbie was in no way sarcastic. You don't gave really much information. Providing proper help with this little amount of information is simply impossible.
