Multiple domains

Postby felixinx » 02. March 2015 17:36

Hi,

I want to test my website. Is it possible to have multiple domain.
For example;
Localhost -> local.dev (works!)
localhost/blog -> blog.dev
localhost/wordpress -> wp.dev

Something like this, possibly using the HTTP CONF file and add virtual host?

I already do the hosts file for local.dev.

Also, when we can have an auto update for XAMPP, because upgrading is long and not easy.

Thanks

Of course you can have multiple domains with different behaviour, read the documentation about "VirtualHosts".

There is no auto update for Xampp, because Xampp is a "distribution" (e.g. a mix of different software products) and it is quite impossible to create auto updates for such sophisticated distributions (you may join the Xampp team and give your input). If you need automatic upgrades for Apache, MySQL, PHP etc., you should not use Xampp, instead use a Linux Server distribution.

Its not impossible to create an auto update feature. Some times you don't need to update every time something changes. There are web servers still using files from 5years ago or more. You only need to update if there is a security issues

XAMPP is meant as local test and development environment, not for productio n and public access use.
So providing an update functionality because of security issues is not prio 1 on the agenda.
And the Bitnami installers are not as bullet proof as it should be for beginners needing such an updater.
