Can't start Apache -- USUALLY but not always

Postby yefchak » 22. January 2015 19:46

Hi folks,

New user here.

I installed XAMPP (v3.2.1) and am having massive problems getting it to start. However, I don't believe it's the usual port 80/443 issue. And in fact, it DID start a few times.

When it fails, which is almost always, the error log says the following:
-----------------------
[Thu Jan 22 10:29:31.525920 2015] [ssl:warn] [pid 21460:tid 248] AH01909: www.example.com:443:0 server certificate does NOT include an ID which matches the server name

-----------------------

Note that when it started and was actually working, the "www.example.com:443:0 server certificate" warning was still being generated.

I have NO idea what to do next.

Any help would be appreciated.

Installation file was: xampp-win32-5.6.3-0-VC11-installer

OK, but I read the Apache won't start file and attempted to pursue all the relevant advice for four days before making an account on this forum to post my question.

I don't know what to do next.

Thanks,

Well, than you should give us much much more information.
Full XAMPP control panel log?
response of apache_start.bat?

I do not even have Skype installed. Surely you realize I would have noticed this issue in my many days of troubleshooting. It's the first thing that comes up in any search or FAQ.

Nothing useful here:

11:11:59 PM [Apache] Error: Apache shutdown unexpectedly.
11:11:59 PM [Apache] This may be due to a blocked port, missing dependencies,

No, this is not the full XAMPP control panel log, this is just a part of it. [FGA] Insufficient debug information

This is the Apache error.log, not the response of the apache_start.bat file.
Execute the \xampp\apache_start.bat file and tell us what you get as response.

Ah Ha! Looking at the output of \xampp\control-panel.log revealed that there was indeed still a problem with port 80, despite not having IIS, SQL, or Skype (etc.) installed.

I was eventually able to get Apache to run by issuing a "net stop msdepsvc" command.

By the way, there is no \xampp\control-panel.log file on my system.

Thanks,
