Xampp 5.6.3, Joomla 3.3.6 installation takes forever

Postby williwaw » 18. January 2015 16:15

I have one website on my local pc running with Xampp for Windows 5.6.3 and Joomla 3.3.6. Installation took quite a while, but I succeeded. My second website however doesn't finish installing. I know all tabels in PHPmyAdmin have been made, just the installation doesn't stop. I have tried installing in Firefox and IE. I am looking for a php.ini folder to change the max_execure_time to a valua like 200, but I can't find the php.ini file, so I don't know whether that helps. Has any one a solution for my problem? Thank you.

You should find it at /xampp/php/php.ini

I had this happen with an older version of J! 3.x on another local server; never did finish nor create all the tables.

One thing you may also try in addition to increasing the max_execution_time is to use 127.0.0 instead of localhost in the db credentials screen.

Cheers!

Thank you JJ_Taggy and Lyle. I did a few things, all together it worked!

First I stopped Apache and Mysql on the Xampp control panel.
Then I clicked on the Config button behind Apache and found the php.ini file (I was looking at the wrong place).

I changed four things:
post_max_size to 300M
upload_max_filesize to 300M
max_execution_time to 180
max_input_time to 180

Saved it, restarted Xampp and tried another Joomla! 3.3.6-install. And I got right through. I did not have to change "localhost".
