Missing Hosts file

I am trying to setup virtual host on my xampp for lunix. The directory it is kept in is /opt/lampp. It is missing the hosts file in etc. Not sure what I have done wrong or what to do. Also does not have the same features as windows xampp version.

Where can I find the host file I thought it was in /opt/lampp/etc ?

The hosts file is part of the Operating System and NOT part of a software like Xampp. You find it in the systems /etc folder.
