Can't restore a MySQL Database

Postby gianpi » 13. November 2014 07:54

Hi everyone

I have to restore a MySQL Database: I still have the old folder (backup) under „…/ XAMPP / xamppfiles / var / mysql / DB_name“ with his files .frm and .ibd but by simply pasting this folder in the the new location (I had to reinstall XAMPP) I get this error message:
#1017 - Can’t find file ‚./DB_name/TABLE_name.frm‘ (errno: 13 - Permission denied)
when I try to open the tables in phpMyAdmin.
Could you please give me a kind advise how to restore my old database?

Another question: each time I have to paste some files or simply change the name of them in the XAMPP-folder I have to tipe my keyword. Is there a way to avoid it?

Thanks
Gianpiero

This is what I did:
- I uninstalled XAMPP and reinstalled it.
- I create a new database on phpmyadmin called „DB_NAME“.
- I copied the old files (backup) .frm and .ibd except the on db.opt. Mysql can start but I got the message "1017 Can’t find file ‚./DB_name/TABLE_NAME.frm‘ (errno: 13 - Permission denied)“ if I try to open the table TABLE_NAME of the database DB_NAME on phpmyadmin.
- If now I copy the old file (backup) ibdata1, mysql can’t even start.

Please someone help me...
