Problems with the Linux version of XAMPP, questions, comments, and anything related.

I just downloaded and setup XAMPP on a CentOS 6.5 box. I copied over the website files to the server and the page loaded, but it doesn't display any images which are in a subfolder of where the main html page is. It does show JPGs that are in the same folder as that html page though.
Does this sound like a setting I missed or more a permissions error? I don't want to go unnecessarily changing permissions on stuff if I don't have to.

Actually, figured it out. found the error log in /opt/lampp/logs and it said
/.htaccess pcfg_openfile: unable to check htaccess file, ensure it is readable and that path is executable
so i did a chmod 777 on that subfolder and now it works!
