New to XAMPP - Question about web hosting

Postby Crowbreezer » 03. August 2014 15:57

So here's the situation I'm in and I'm hoping I can get some help, seeing as how I'm new to XAMPP.

My employer just purchased 2 domain names from GoDaddy, both having the same name but ending with .ca and .org. He wants to have a site hosted on a spare server he has running all the time that is currently doing nothing, that uses those domain names. I'm wondering how we would go about doing this with XAMPP. Basically my questions are the following:

1) How do I create a website with XAMPP?
2) How do I make that website live on the internet?
3) How do I make the site accessible with the domains that were bought?

Thank you for any help.

Using XAMPP in live or production environments is not actively supported here.
More about the scope of support can be found here:

[INFO] How to not fail getting help here
We don't provide any support via personal channels like PM, email, Skype, TeamViewer!

Dont go with Xampp, Xampp is a development environment (missing lots of security issues), not meant for production, Ask your provider for pre-installed environments or use any Server Releases of Ubuntu and similar.

Xampp is not well suited for online access.
