error 1146 after upgrade

Postby desrosib » 29. July 2014 00:37

Hi,

I did an upgrade to XAMPP 1.8.3-4 on my mac and now when I try to open my existing databases I get error 1146 Table doesn't exist when trying to access the tables in phpmyadmin.

I ran into that issue last year also and I couldn't find a solution, so I reverted back to a backup and forgot about the upgrade, but now I need the upgrade.

thanks
Benoit

As there is NO upgrade procedure for Xampp and related tools, you may have destroyed your installation. What did you do for that "upgrade"??

I simply installed the new version.
If there is no upgrade procedure, how can it be done "safely" ????
Is it mandatory to dump the content of all the databases and recreate them after the upgrade???
They should at least have a warning before destroying everything!!!!

This destroys your MySQL Data.

As you described: Backup all data and restore it after.

I am not the developer, ask the development team. But, as far as i know, it is assumed to be a known fact, that simply overriding existing data my cause loss of data. This is essential knowledge.
