phpMyAdmin ERROR!

phpMyAdmin - ERROR
cannot start session without "with" errors, please check errors given in your PHP and/or webserver log file and configure your PHP installation properly.

All I did was change my password for the root user name in mySQL database to a password because it did not have a password. I decided to select privileges menu and then my selection which was root user name I changed the password with the Change Password Fieldset then press go is what i did!

What should I do now to fix this problem? All I want is to change the root username password from " " to something "dgdg".
I really do not want to reinstall this software If I need to I will use Microsoft SQL to do what I am trying to do!
HELP PLEASE I PERFER TO USE XAMPP?
It Looks much more simple to use!
