xampp not responding to pings to servername

I have the servername configured to "192.168.56.1" and I have been using xampp for several months without problems, but today I cannot browse to my home page: "http://192.168.56.1/mdg/home.xhtml", If I replace the IP address with "localhost" my browser has no problem getting to it. I get errors pinging "192.168.56.1", but pinging "localhost" works OK.

Well, I made it work. I changed the URL to 192.168.6.1, but I need to know why this IP address changed. I have lots of browser links that are set to 192.168.56.1. I would use "localhost", but I'm running a packet sniffer and that requires the browser to use the IP address.

I knew it I just cleaned my hard drive, re-installed Windows 7, then re-installed xampp and I can't connect my browser to it using my IP address. I can point my browser to it using localhost but not with my old IP address (192.168.56.1). I can see the Apache and mySql services running. I can provide the config changes I made, if you need it.
