MySQL will not Activate!

For some reason MySQL will not activate according to 'localhost' page. The 'Control Panel' says MySQL is running but the 'localhost' page says it is not, and I cannot seem to import files into MySQL. Therefore probably MySQL is not working properly.

I have gotten the Files to Import into MySQL, I simply switched the < with (, once corrected it worked fine.
But MySQL still does read 'Activated' on 'localhost/xampp'.
