Create a local copy of an existing Magento website on XAMPP

Hi,

I installed XAMPP for Mac OS X 10.8.5 locally, changed security permissions and created a new database. I now want to import a copy of an existing Magento website (MySQL database) that is now on an AWS instance (RDS for MySQL database and EC2 for the other files) on my local XAMPP, so that I can run development and testing locally.
I have a server access in this form:

EC2 Medium Instance: XXX.XX.XXX.XXX
ec2-XXX-XX-XXX-XXX.compute-1.amazonaws.com
 USER: ec2-user
key: XXX.pem

RDS Small instance: XXXDevDB
XXdevdb.cxw6nnebxik5.us-east-1.rds.amazonaws.com:XXXX
Database: XXXdb
 Username: XXX Password: XXX

How do I proceed to connect to AWS and create a dump of my db and other Magento files? Then, how to I proceed to upload them on XAMPP?

Thank you very much!
