Mysql wont start

Postby warren_m » 26. October 2013 18:43

I installed this right out of the box.
Windows 7 Pro 64 bit
Xampp version 1.8.2
I checked the port 3306 and there is nothing listed as running or a conflict. (SIW Technician)

Apache starts and runs
Mysql starts and stops. Gives me the following message:

The file is says is not found is actually there in the folder.

Any ideas would be greatly appreciated. Thanks.

This is often a permission or security software (antivirus, etc) problem.
Be sure the user MySQL is running with has the permission to create files in C:\xampp\tmp\.
If you are running any security software try to temporary disable it or better configure them to exclude the folder C:\xampp\tmp\

Thanks Altrea, however, I am not running any AV software. I am running as administrator. Wouldnt creating files be inherent? and if not, how would i change that? Thanks.

Is the MySQL process started as administrator too?
In cases of operating systems with activated user account control Windows denies write access to several sensitive folders (like system32, etc.) even for administrators.
But the XAMPP tmp folder should not be restricted.

the checkbox is green for start as a service. It was set as automatic but was stopped in the windows services box. When I try to start I get a windows error 1067.
