Can't start Apache

Postby brus » 30. March 2004 18:59

I'm running RH 9 (zeus.teccart.qc.ca), but i can't start apache. He's telling me
XAMPP: An Apache daemon with SSL is already running.

But there's not other apache running or even install.
[root@zeus etc]# locate httpd
/opt/lampp/bin/httpd
/opt/lampp/etc/httpd.conf.bak
/opt/lampp/etc/httpd.conf
/opt/lampp/etc/httpd-std.conf
/opt/lampp/modules/httpd.exp

Anyone know why?

Hi,

try locate apache
And do a "ps -A | grep apache"

Have a look in /etc if there is an apache dir?

The only thing I have about apache is in /opt/lampp/...

nothing in /etc too.
Is there a way to bypass the scripts that detect an apache running?

Hi,

all the script does, is check if something is already listening on Port 80 and 443.

Ich you change these ports in the httpd.conf and in the /opt/lampp/lampp
File.

Search for 80 and 443 in the lampp file, then you should be able to start lampp with no problems :)

u can disable ssl if u want...

Call "/opt/lampp/lampp stopssl" to disable and prevent the use of port 443

Liddle question:

Why do u run ssh on 443?
