apache has gone !!!!

Hello,
- First , please, could someone tell me where to find xampp in tar.gz and not in this (HEAVY !!) file of "run" ; thnx for that.
- 2nd; Xampp was installed in Ubuntu, since 2 days; "they" told me all was fine , and now .... when I start the system, it tell me that Apache doesn t work; don t know why (so myself to !!!), and its wwrite to ask for help in your Forum; that s why i m here !
If u can help me !!!!! Thnx a lot !
