Virtual Box and Webserver Help

Postby cajn » 12. July 2013 21:54

Here is my set-up: 1 PC that is currently a web server and has IP address of 192.168.2.5. It works fine. I have installed VirtualBox on this machine as I would like to run 3 more Virtual Servers on this machine. I have decided to use Windows XP and have loaded up three enviornments on IP addresses 192.168.2.35, 192.168.3.36, 192.168.2.37 respectively. They are all on the same network and can see each other. So now I have 4 computers I can see. They can all connect to the internet and browse the web. I have XAMPP-win32-1.8.2.0 installed on all instances. I am using the httpd-vhosts file and have multiple sites set-up on the 192.168.2.5 Machine. I want to host sites on the other three. How do I configure my Host file or httpd-vhost file to do this? On which machine or virtual machine to I do this on or is there another and better way with the set-up I currently have?

Additionally I have only configured my router to work with 192.168.2.5 and all ports are opened appropriately for this address. By using VirtualBox does it create a passthrough to these other IP addresses I have assigned or do I need to create rules for each of these? And if so suggestions on how to do this as I can't have 3 mysql's all pointing to port 3306, or can I?

(Sorry for reposting this, but there was an excessive amount of spam from a user on this forum on my last post)
