Postby xinix » 27. May 2013 12:09

Hello,

We have two pc's on one router/modem, on both of the pc is a phpforum installed on xampp, we have both the same ip number, and freedns names for ip number, but when say pc 1, my pc is on it works great, but on the pc (2) of my wife, when she opened her forum she see my forum instead of her own lol, i have searched for a solution, but no luck.

Is this problem to be fixed or is it not possible?

sorry for poor engelish :|

Sorry, I dont understand your problem.

One thing i can say: it is IMPOSSIBLE that two different PCs in one LAN have the same IP. Please explain better.

Hi xinix,

well, your Router does have to know which port it has to forward to which specific internal ip address (+port). That is a one to one connection.
You can't forward requests on port 80 to both pcs. How should the router know which request is related to which pc?

best wishes,
Altrea

http://portforward.com/english/routers/ ... holink.htm

P.S.: The "same" IPs shown by myip.com are NOT the IPs of your local PCs, it is ALWAYS the External IP (also called WAN IP) of your Zyxel Router. Myip.com cannot "see" your internal LAN IPs from your PCs. Your Zyxel Router has TWO IPs: one is external (WAN) for connecting to the internet, the other is internal (LAN) for connecting to your LAN. Your two PCs are members of the LAN and have two different IPs in your LAN. The LAN IPs CANNOT(!) BE SEEN OUTSIDE!

In this constellation your Router connects the two PCs to the internet, therefore it is not only a Router, it is also a so called "Gateway". Networks need Gateways to access from one Net (here: your LAN) to another Net (here: World Wide Web). Therefore, the Zyxel Router has TWO IPs: one IP of each Network, so it is part of both networks and it connects from one the other network.

yes thats right ofcourse both had the same External IP, thats why my wife gets my website when she enters her site name, but how must i fix that, so that when she go to her website and not see mine because its the same external ip, we have freedns name for the ip but its the same ip ofcourse, its hard to explain in other language haha.

1 pc A website is http.example.com

2 pc B website is http.example2.com

but when pc b go to http.example2.com (own site), the browser direct to pc a (http.example.com) and not to http.example2.com, but comes out on http.example.com (my website)

what must is configer to make it work properly.
