apache won't start after pup upgrade...

Postby RayLutz » 22. May 2013 04:06

I turned my CentOS system off for a while and when I rebooted, it went through an upgrade process. After the upgrade, xampp would not start as usual.

Already fixed the Fedora vs. CentOS issue in the conf file. Now I can start ftp but apache will not start.

[root@192 lampp]# ./lampp startapache
XAMPP: Starting Apache with SSL (and PHP5)...
XAMPP: Error 1! Couldn't start Apache!
XAMPP: Starting diagnose...
XAMPP: Sorry, I've no idea what's going wrong.
XAMPP: Please contact our forum http://community.apachefriends.org/f/

the error log contains this:

tail /opt/lampp/logs/error_log
httpd: Syntax error on line 528 of /opt/lampp/etc/httpd.conf: Syntax error on line 5 of /opt/lampp/etc/extra/httpd-xampp.conf: Cannot load modules/libphp5.so into server: /opt/lampp/modules/libphp5.so : cannot restore segment prot after reloc: Permission denied

This was all working prior to the package upgrade with pup so I am disappointed I have to go through this process!

My configuration:
[2012-09-30] XAMPP for Linux 1.8.1
PHP version is 5.4.7
CentOS release 5.9 (Final)

elsewhere on this forum, there was a problem with php being 64 bit version. (computer is a 32-bit machine) so that is not my problem, I don't think.
file /opt/lampp/modules/libphp5.so
/opt/lampp/modules/libphp5.so: ELF 32-bit LSB shared object, Intel 80386, version 1 (SYSV), stripped

My next step would be to try to re-install xampp to make sure the pup upgrade did not corrupt anything.
--> Any other ideas?
--> Is there instructions for upgrade / repair rebuild?

THANKS!!!

SOLVED

Okay, I fixed this. It was related to selinux. I put it into permissive mode using this command.

Code: Select all
echo 0 >/selinux/enforce
