Unable to access PHPMyAdmin

Postby wingted » 22. May 2013 14:12

Please help.

I recently had problems with running MySql services. I have uninstalled Xampp several times, and reinstalled. Here is what I have now:

Installed Xampp. Started Apache and MySql. They are running. When I click on the Admin button for MySql, it should take me to the PhpMyAdmin. The window opens and gives me an error:
MySQL said: Documentation
#2002 - No connection could be made because the target machine actively refused it.

The server is not responding (or the local server's socket is not correctly configured).
Connection for controluser as defined in your configuration failed.

This is the same problem I had that led me to reinstalling Xampp.

Any help would be appreciated as I am at wits end.

Thanks.

Thanks for your reply.

I will read the material you sent. I can't help but feel that somewhere there is something still configured from the original install.

One question real quick. I still have the old Xampp folder, but I renamed it xampp_old. Do you see any need to delete it, just in case there is some reference somewhere to that folder? I have retained a copy of my WP files, as well as the data folder in the xampp/Mysql folder. Hopefully I will be able to transfer the SQL data. I really don't want to recreate the site from scratch.

Altrea,

There was a mention of the Windows Services Manager, where I should remove some components. I am running Win 7, and cannot find it anywhere in the Control Panel. Can you afford any help with this.

Thanks.

Altrea,

Not sure what is happening, but I am now able to open PHPMyAdmin. I realkly did not do anything. Both Apache and MySql are running. But here is a problem I see. The checkbox beside the Service Modules is not checked. Can't check them. And the button to Stop the service is not working.

I guess I am making some headway, but with problems.

Sorry for all the posts.

I had created a DB in the past install of xampp, named Wordpress. Where do I find it in the old xampp folder, so I can do an import? I would think it would be in the xampp/mysql/data folder.

I do have a copy of the Data folder saved. But until I am sure everything is working, I am reluctant to simply copy it over.

Any thoughts.

I know you must be busy so I will patiently await your reply.

many thanks for your help.

That's exactly what to do, but i would rename the current data folder before (from data to data-original or similar), so you have a quick backup if things dont work like expected.

I deleted the folder "xampp_old' and did a complete reinstall. Seems like somehow the computer was still referring back to something in that old folder. Now everything is working fine. I was however unable to find any reference to the database in the data folder. At least a .sql file. I did find some structure files, but non had any data concerning the pages of my site. So, back to the basics in recreating the site.

Thanks everyone for all your comments. Problem solved.
