I am completely new to the world of Xampp. I see on the website: http://www.apachefriends.org/en/xampp-windows.html
it says "We've released the new version of XAMPP 1.8.1", which I want to download.
A little further down it says "PHP in this package needs the Microsoft Visual C++ 2008 Redistributable package from http://www.microsoft.com/en-us/download/details.aspx?id=5582. Please ensure that the VC++ 2008 runtime libraries are installed on your system."
I have 2 questions.
1) Does it matter which one I download first?
2) My Windows7 32-bit is newly installed and updated. In the Control Panel / Programs and Features, I see:
Microsoft Visual C++ 2008 Redistributable - x86 9.0.30729.17
Can I then skip the part of installing this, since it already exists?
I see that on the bottom of that Microsoft page it states
"IMPORTANT: If you have installed previous pre-release versions of Visual C++ 2008 SP1 such as Beta 1 or Community Technical Preview (CTP) builds, then you must uninstall these versions via Add/Remove Programs in Control Panel before installing the final released version."
I am guessing that my package is not one of these and that I do not have to download this.
Any responses to my questions are greatly appreciated.
