error 126

Postby area47 » 08. February 2013 05:59

Hi everyone,

I have arch linux arm on a raspberry pi and extracted xampp according to the direction and this is the result I get when I try to start it.

XAMPP: Error 126! Couldn't start Apache!
XAMPP: Starting diagnose...
XAMPP: Sorry, I've no idea what's going wrong.
XAMPP: Please contact our forum http://community.apachefriends.org/f/
XAMPP: Starting MySQL...
/opt/lampp/bin/mysql.server: line 256: ./bin/my_print_defaults: cannot execute binary file
XAMPP: Couldn't start MySQL!
XAMPP: Starting ProFTPD...
XAMPP: /opt/lampp/lampp: line 333: /opt/lampp/sbin/proftpd: cannot execute binary file
XAMPP: Error 126! Couln't start ProFTPD!
XAMPP for Linux started.

If I could get some direction on this I would be very grateful.

Thank you

(If this were in Windows I would say some dll files are missing)

After farther digging error 126 appears to be not having permission to execute.

I'm starting xampp as root which leaves a file system permission problem.

I'm not sure what that means or how to fix it.

The problem is rather straightfoward -

XAMPP for Linux only runs on x86 and IA64 Processors. Its a binary compatibility issue. XAMPP would have to be compiled with a C compiler specifically for other processor families, such as ARM or Itanium. Each processor family has a unique machine instruction set, x86 and IA64 share a common 32bit instruction set, so XAMPP can run on both families.

There are Apache, PHP, MySQL binaries and repositories for make/build that are specific to ARM processors

Good Luck.
