I had to redoe my xampp due to a hard drive fail the good new is i'm back up and running but for the life of me i cant remember how to set up chmod as in what file/folder needs what (this can be done via ftp) and the other issue is within ubuntu what group to set up so i can have ftp acces with full rights (i have ftp now but cant chmod any files due to permissions being wrong)

There must be a guild some where ?

edit solved most of above i can now delete files from the server but cant chmod using filezilla i get this error Operation not permitted

owner is nobody

group is nogroup

edit got everything working as i'm using phpbb the only files i cant chmod is php files that are in the root is this normal ?
