Xampp for windows 7

Problems with the Windows version of XAMPP, questions, comments, and anything related.

Xampp for windows 7

Postby jacq » 10. January 2013 11:49

I have several sites that are written in asp working through ISS these I am gradually changing to PHP. I want to use Xampp to test locally as one of the sites is very complex..

The problem is that IIS needs to be there to run the existing asp sites until I have rebuilt them in PHP but Xampp won't run together with IIS, and I cannot get xampp to start, I also have Skype on my computer using a port.
I have changed the IIS to port 8080. I have changed the settings to Skype and I have reinstalled Xampp.

Before the setup ran, it had a message to say I should disconnect the User Account Control after installing Xampp. This I have done but in the Xampp control panel each time I press the start Apache button I get a message saying Xampp control.EXE has stopped working, Close Program.

Have you any idea how I can get over this please.

I am running Version 1.8.1 of Xampp
and windows 7

Have you any suggestions please.

Regards

Hello,

Grab the latest control panel from the link in my signature. That should take care of the crashing issue. It happens when you run the control panel without Admin privileges and try to use a service, which requires Admin privileges.

I am sorry but as I am new to php I am not sure what to do when Ihave downloaded the control panel. I put it in the same folder as Xampp and ran it but I am still getting the same problem. Do you think you could explain in more detail how I should be tackling this.
Thanks

okay, yes you should put it and run it in the base XAMPP directory.

1. Did you edit the Apache/PHP configurations at all?
2. Could you post the entire log window of the XAMPP Control Panel after you start it (right-click it > select all > copy)

Hello,

You need to put it in the XAMPP folder (C:\xampp) or the control panel will not work.

Hi There
I am sorry not to have replied to your post before but I have been trying to get it to work now for months now and still no joy.
I have removed all the Xampp files and reinstalled several times. I have put in the Control panel you gave me the link for in the same folder but what ever I do I get this message.
Exception EAccessViolation in module xampp-control.exe at 001ABEFE.
Access violation at address 005ABEFE in module'xammp-control.exe'.
Read of address 00000042

I have installed Xampp on my laptop running XP with no problem, but the main computer running windows 7 just will not work. It is a 64 bi t machine but I don't think that it should make a difference. I have switched off the User Account Control and Skype and the IIS is set to port 8080 but that does not seemed to have made any difference either.
Have you any bright ideas

Hello,

1. What version of the control panel are you using (the latest is 3.2.0 available via my signature link)?
2. What are you doing when the crash occurs (right after opening it, after trying to install/uninstall a service, after trying to start/stop a module, etc)?
3. Could you post the entire contents of the XAMPP Control Panel log window after the crash?

Hi there
I am using 3.0.2, the link I used was the second one in the list as the first on is sending a 404 error message

Version 3.2.0 Downloads:

Direct Download Option:
http://www.fileden.com/files/2011/11/12 ... Pv3.2.0.7z

Direct Download Mirror:
http://xampp.statusnull.com/CPv3/CPv3.2.0.7z (I used this one)

The Xampp program is opening and when I press Start on the Apache it crashes and it will not allow me to copy the content at this point, only before it crashes which I have put below

This is the code on opening the xampp control panel

09:19:11 [main] Initializing Control Panel
09:19:11 [main] Windows Version: Windows 7 Professional SP1 64-bit

Exception EAccessViolation in module xampp-control.exe at 001ABEFE.
Access violation at address 005ABEFE in module'xammp-control.exe'.

If I press MySql first nothing seems to happen. This is the after pressing start of MySql which does not seem to connect

This is not v3.2.0.
Be sure you execute the new extracted xampp-control3.exe

I don't know.
The only thing i can say that the current XAMPP CP will have this version message in the log window:
13:27:25 [main] Control Panel Version: 3.2.0 [ Compiled: March 24th 2013 ]

So either you have downloaded the wrong CP, or you have not extracted it to the correct folder, or you have started the wrong .exe
