can't import .sql files

Postby rumbleeye » 20. December 2012 21:15

hi
(I already posted but as a sub subject so now I post it as a main one!)

I just installed xampp 1.8.1

in the cmd line I type:

Code: Select all
C:\xampp\mysql\bin>mysql -u root db < users.sql

and I get:

Code: Select all
mysql: Unknown OS character set 'cp862'.
mysql: Switching to the default character set 'latin1'.
ERROR 2006 (HY000) at line 51: MySQL server has gone away

any ideas?

the database representation now appears in the phpMyAdmin cp, but it is empty

(Im running windows 7 32 bit)

Well where did those SQL files come from? and how were they exported?

That 'cp862', might be a reference to a Code Page

http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Code_page_862

When I say 'came from' I mean what SQL Server and what version.

Good Luck
:)

The files worked on the previous version of xampp that I had installed. only I don't remember what version was it.
(I installed it maybe one year ago and used it since and never upgraded up until now)

I got the files from the internet, worked with them ever since. and this is the cmd line I used.

(I'm not sure if the cmd line is correct but this is the way to do the import, right?)

well, now it wont and I'm lost with a problem that seemed to be simple at first.
