The old Access Forbidden problem [Solved]

Postby cearlp » 18. November 2012 20:36

I am trying to run phpmyadmin by typing in http://localhost/phpmyadmin in my browser (either IE or Chrome).
I still get 'Access Forbidden! New XAMPP security concept: Access to the requested directory is only available from the local network' after trying every fix I could find on the net. None of them have worked for me. I am ready for a real fix.
Running Win 7 Home Premium on an HP x64 laptop. It has Apache 2.2.21, MySql Server 5.5.28, phpMyAdmin 3.5.3, Filezilla Server 0.9.41.0, Filezilla Client 3.5.3 and XAMPP win-32 1.7.7.
Everything was running fine until I installed the MySql 5.5.28, after which the error message started.
Re-installing any other older MySql version still gives me the error.

The apache error.log has the following message as the last two lines in the file:
[....] [error] [client ::1] Directory index forbidden by options directive: C:/xampp/phpMyAdmin/

Thanks in advance for any responses.

Solved this problem by first uninstalling my separate installs of Apache, Mysql, Filezilla, phpMyAdmin and Xampp. Then I reinstalled the latest XAMPP (1.8.1), which contains everything I had separately installed previously.
