Mysql Port Conflict in XAMPP

Postby volterony » 21. September 2012 16:11

Hi there,

I have successfully installed XAMPP on my Mac which already has mysql and apache installed. To run XAMPP's Apache, I had to change the port number to 7777 which work fine, so when I go to http://localhost:7777, the XAMPP home screen opens up.

However from the XAMPP control when I try to start MYSQL, it doesn't start because it says there is already another version of Mysql running. I think this is because of a port conflict in that XAMPP is trying to connect using port 3306, which may be the same port my MAC's mysql is trying to connect with. I have tried editing the my.conf in the XAMPP files and changed the port number there, however still unable to connect.

Any ideas what else I should do?

Cheers
