Newb help for restoring XAMPP [Resolved]

Postby omens » 25. August 2012 10:15

We had an intranet site set up on a computer at work using XAMPP 1.6.3a and Joomla 1.5.16.

I tried to update Joomla to 1.5.25 but this caused some of the items to be distorted on the intranet. It still worked fine, but layout was different. I copied C:\XAMPP as backup. I then tried to roll back Joomla to 1.5.16 but this didn't work. In the end, I decided to replace the entire c:\XAMPP folder with the one I had backed up. I still cannot connect to the intranet. I then uninstalled XAMPP 1.6.3a and tried to reinstall it, restart the services and tried to access Joomla but I still can't do this. I have changed nothing other than the contents of the XAMPP folder.

Is there any reason why simply restoring the old folder did not work?
Is there something I have missed out?

If I create a new XAMPP 1.6.3a installation, what do I need to copy across from my back up? Are there any changes that need to be made?
