Apache service if stopped shuts down computer [Resolved]

I have xampp 1.8 with apache,mysql and firezilla started as a service on my xp home sp3 build 2600.
I was trying to test stopping and starting servers (my sql and firezilla ok) when apache shut down the computer when I
stopped the service. I did this 4 times, once i got a blue screen. (control panel and services)
event viewer does not seem to have any clues, In the safe mode I can disable it .

Any help I would appreciate

How exactly did you try to shut down Apache?

I tried to stop service on the control panel first,which abruptly shut the computer off. I went to services next and tried to
stop it there and same thing happened.
So now I went into safe mode and disabled both apache and my sql.
I uninstalled 1.8 and installed 1.74 and thats working fine so I`ll leave it alone.

If you are curious, you might look in your Windows system event log to see if anything got logged before the kaboom.
