Can't access "localhost" or 127.0.0.1 [SOLVED]

Postby mystreetcar » 22. March 2012 19:05

I searched the forum briefly and suprisingly I didn't find a post with this issue.

I've just installed XAMPP and I got my Apache, MySQL and Filezilla running. I tried to connect to localhost but I get an page not found error.

Any ideas?

Read the \xampp\apache\logs\error.log file for info about the page not found error.

What exactly are you typing in the address bar of your browsers?

I'm typing "localhost" or "http://localhost" or 127.0.0.1 or click the admin button of Apache at the control panel.

Drag C:\windows\system32\drivers\etc\hosts file into an opened text editor like notepad and check that you have this line at the end of all the comments so it is the first line not commented
Code: Select all
127.0.0.1 localhost
If it is not there then add it and save the file.

Then try http://localhost again.

Your log file is not recording a page not found error and so we have to look beyond Apache to your Windows System.
