Apache not working

Postby darnson » 20. March 2012 01:47

Hello,

I just installed xampp on my new computer and ran into this:

5:39:49 PM [main] something with services there will be a security dialogue! So think about running
5:39:49 PM [main] this application with administrator rights!
5:39:49 PM [main] Working with basedir: "c:\program files\xampp\"
5:39:49 PM [main] Initializing moduls
5:39:49 PM [apache] Possible problem detected: Port 80 in use by "c:\program files (x86)\skype\phone\skype.exe"!
5:39:49 PM [apache] Possible problem detected: Port 443 in use by "c:\program files (x86)\skype\phone\skype.exe"!
5:39:49 PM [mysql] Possible problem detected: Port 3306 in use by "mysqld.exe"!
5:39:49 PM [filezilla] Possible problem detected: Port 21 in use by "filezillaserver.exe"!
5:39:49 PM [main] Starting check-timer

I don't know how to resolve this.

TIA

Hi darnson,

If you are using Windows 7 or Windows Vista, start the control panel with higher admin permissions. Hold down CTRL+Shift before double clicking the control panel file.
If you are using XP and are running XAMPP from a user without administration permissions: run XAMPP with administration permissions.
Otherwise this can produce errors with some functionalities.

Don't install XAMPP into paths which contails whitespaces or special chars. The XAMPP components are based on *NIX programs where these chars doesn't exist in paths. So this program files folder can produced unwanted behaviors or errors. Simply install it into the root of your HDD

Simply configure Skype not to using Ports 80 and 443 like described here: viewtopic.php?f=16&t=50078&p=193085&hilit=skype#p193085

best wishes,

phpMyAdmin tried to connect to the MySQL server, and the server rejected the connection. You should check the host, username and password in your configuration and make sure that they correspond to the information given by the administrator of the MySQL server.
