Port Issue Mysql wont connect

Postby bobe1997 » 18. February 2012 07:15

Please help. I installed xampp and followed directions. I ended up installing twice. Changed the port because 80 wasnt working so now I have to use localhost:8080. Ok all is working except when I try to add a database I get the error No Privileges. I have been looking for hours to fix this. Can anyone help? Also I have checked host and it is fine. No hash.

Is the problem you can't connect or that you cannot create a database?

I can log into myphpadmin but can not create a database. I gave the other information because didnt know if by me changing the ports if that had anything to do with it.

I set up my user but I have tried them all and I still get the same error. I just reinstalled xampp again and this time I did not set up anything. I am logging in under the root and that works. Cant figure out why its not working when I go in and set up my own user account.

You are the only person who can know the answer.
If you create a new user, you can specify which permissions the user gets. If the global permission for creating databases is missing, then the user can't create any databases.

best wishes,
