can't stop xampp

Postby donaldsonmikie » 07. February 2012 01:53

Hi All, I'm new to XAMPP. I don't seem to be able to stop it. When i downloaded it there was some advice on how to stop it which I've forgotten. Help would be greatly appreciated. Are there any hidden dangers of not stopping it.

Regards, Harry

It sounds like the OP's running the server as a service, so must exit the control panel and then run it again as an administrator (right click xampp-control.exe --> "Run as administrator"). I had the same brain fart, which is how I stumbled in here. JonB, you've been here long enough to realize this is the likely culprit. Even if you don't, Mr. Spock surely does, so who ya channeling now? :P
It made me think about it.
It made me.
Think about it.

It does sound like they were running it as a service, however you can also just 'uncheck' the Run as Service icon in the Control Panel normally.

Kinda plus, we didn't here back that 'the cure didn't work either', did we?

As for -
(right click xampp-control.exe --> "Run as administrator")

Well, since we don't know their Windows Version - I would say that's a WAA (WIld A** Assumption).

Good Luck
