XAMPP control Panel! [SOLVED]

Postby smian » 31. December 2011 12:21

I am unable to check the SVC of Apache in XAMPP Control Panel. What can be reasons for that and how to correct that?

Click on the Exit button of the 2.5 version control panel to close it.

Now try the version 3 control panel found in the xampp installation folder:
xampp-control-3-beta.exe
The latest version download link is in my signature.
Simply extract all the files from the archive to the xampp installation folder and overwrite when asked.
Then right click the exe file to run as administrator and to create a shortcut to the desktop, for example, for easier access.

This version has a better reporting system in the log window.

New users can find some self help by reading these first:
readme_en.txt file in the xampp folder.

Do you have extracted the downloaded file with 7-zip first?
The file contains 3 .bat Files, 1 .exe file, localization files and the source files
We don't provide any support via personal channels like PM, email, Skype, TeamViewer!

In your Windows control panel click on Folder Options then on the View tab.

Look for and select Show hidden files and folders
Remove the tick in the box next to Hide extensions for known file types

Click Apply and then OK.

Close the Windows control panel.

Now open the zip file and you should see the file now has an extensions.

Well, your instructions worked and I could run the exe file. And thnx a lot for that!
Now the problem I am facing is tht as a layman, in order to learn Drupal, I am following the instructions from the below page:
http://drupal.org/node/749846 ...........but facing problem in almost every step. Can it be because I have downloaded drupal 7 and this page is based on drupal 6.
Secondly, How is Acquia Dev Desktop and how it is different from main Drupal? And any link which contains elaborate explanations on how to operate acquia dev desktop?

Why not ask your Drupal questions in their own forum as your are off topic in this XAMPP for Windows forum.

I will close this topic now and mark it solved.

Please starts a new topic if you have any more issues with your XAMPP for Windows installation.
