I've tried changing listen and localhost:80 (to 81, 8080, etc) in the httpd.conf file and it's the same.

xampp-portcheck.exe says all the ports are free.

I got infected with that stupid "privacy protection" virus, and i THINK (i'm not sure) that the problem started after that.

Any ideas guys? Thanks in advance. :)

I actually got the exact same messages a little bit ago while looking into other things. It happened that there was a rogue httpd.exe process running in an unknown state. Check your Task Manager process list and kill any httpd.exe processes if there are any but it is hard to say if there has been malware potentially messing with your system components and settings.

There are many solutions, because there can be different issues why Apache won't start.
Please give the original poster the time to get this issue solved.
If you have an issue too, please open your own topic.
Thank you.

Have you checked any logs to see what the actual error is? Without more information, it is very hard to help you - however, in my experience, the most common problem for Apache not starting is having another application bound on the same port. Try changing your Apache settings to use port 81 or anything else and see if that helps. If it doesn't, please say more about your problems or post a log file etc.
