How to install a .so on xampp

Can some one pls give me some pointer's on how to install this package on my linux xampp pls

Requirements: uploadprogress package installed and enabled on your server. its here http://pecl.php.net/package/uploadprogress/download/ (this link will not download if clicked its the package page details)

the easy bit
After installation of the uploadprogress package go to you php.ini file and add the following to the very end -

extension=uploadprogress.so

the mod its self is easy to install the only bit that bother's me is how do i install a package on xampp

A little about the mod im installing

Modification Description:: This mod will give your forum uploaders a progress bar that really works unlike the prepackaged progress bar included in the subsilver theme which ‘pretends’ to show you upload progress. You also get additional upload details such as percent uploaded, upload speed, average upload speed and estimated time till the upload has finished. The Upload Progress Bar makes use of the lightweight JQuery javascript library to display the information to the browser and for maximum efficiency it only gets called when a user makes a post in your forum.

Modification Version: 2.0.1

Requirements: uploadprogress.so must be installed and enabled on your server.

you could look at the advice I gave here: (its a similar issue on a Mac - OS X is a Unix shell) That might be enough to steer you in the right direction

sorry for not posting back in the last few days but il try the link you provided later today now im not so rushed with real life jobs

It seems we are both overwhelmed with work right now. I'm getting an anti-forum-spam working group together. (as if I didn't already have enough work)

If it doesn't work out, I can try later this week to install on my Linux box - What is it supposed to do (is it for uploads?), and does it require adding any mods to phpBB???

Yes it for uploads and yes its a phpbb3 mod

what it does is it adds a real time progress bar with data like time left to upload, file size, how much data has gone and how much is left and so on



The mod its self has been marked as [ABD] - Abandoned but its reported as still working on my phpbb 3.0.9 version but version 310.RC1 (phpbb) has been released so i will be using it on both versions

live board and test board.

Time is tuff i still have not tried it yet from the posts above but i have some free time this afternoon for playing around and thank you jonB for your time.
