version confirmation status

Hello
if i remember correctly i did down load this package in the xampp for mac osx. and not from the beta directory.
The package that i downloaded shows:
1.7.3 - beta 1
with a modify date of February 27 2010.
I recently downloaded this package after 1 October 2011.
The file info gui does not show a down load date.
i could dig for the download date.

with this date and the beta 1 information.
is this package actually, really, in beta at this time November 9 2011.
