Object not found (Win7) 1.7.7 [SOLVED]

Postby coty » 08. November 2011 23:31

I recently decided to try to learn php, so I downloaded everything I needed. After installing xampp, I went into the htdocs folder and made a new txt file and saved it as a .php........ I got a object not found error in my browser.

Then I thought maybe it was because it was a text file. I then made the same file in eclipse I tried to use the run option in eclipse got the same error.

I would have posted screen shots except I'm not really sure. I was kind of hoping someone who had an instant messenger of some sort would be so kind as to help with this

Thanks

Another bit of information is that the index.php within the htdocs folder works as intended and all services are on.

When you saved your php file after creating in your text editor it may have added a hidden .txt extension.

When saving from a text editor use the any files option not the text option.

Also in Windows you have an option to see all known file types, you should find this option and change it's default hide setting.

What does the \xampp\apache\logs\error.log file say about the file not found error?
