Run Tomcat Automatically (Win7 64) 1.7.7 [SOLVED]

Postby flacoman91 » 08. November 2011 18:40

I would also like to know how to get Tomcat running automatically. I'm a noob to this and wonder if this is normal behavior.

I installed xampp first and then now that I have to use tomcat and solr, I installed the JDK after the fact.

Double clicking catalina_start.bat does indeed start tomcat, but the command prompt stays open.

Here's my output:

Code: Select all
[XAMPP]: Searching JDK HOME with reg query ...

Using the newer Control Panel v3 ( currently 3.0.7 available here: viewtopic.php?f=16&t=46743&start=45#p186862), you can select the "Config" button in the upper-right corner, and check the "Tomcat" check in the "Autostart" section to automatically start it when the Control Panel starts.

You can use the same "Config" window to uncheck the "Tomcat output window visible" check to make the console window not show up when it starts.
