1.7.5 is the latest stable release and was just released 6 days ago: http://sourceforge.net/projects/xampp/f ... ows/1.7.5/

1.7.6 and 1.7.7 are both Beta but both are less than a week old. I am not sure why they decided to start increasing the minor revision number so quickly instead of releasing incremental beta versions of the same revision like before (i.e., beta 1, beta 2, etc.). Either way, there is nothing "wrong" with it they are both just very new and for testing purposes only.

The version 1.7.5 I downloaded from the link in my other post is not a beta version.

Absolutely nothing of any concern.

Rantaro wrote:Why don't Apache Friends release primary version?
They always release a final version after the beta run.

No comment - use Google Translate:

Have a nice day-night-week-month-year etc.. :)

EDIT
Looks to me like 1.7.6 is now a final release with 1.7.7 the new beta - there was some serious Apache vulnerability issues that needed to be updated - more when I find out for sure or when the 1.7.6 files are uploaded to sourceforge.

There is no official release message for XAMPP 1.7.5 or 1.7.6 on this board.
There is no official release message for it at the Apachefriends XAMPP site also.
So i wouldn't define XAMPP 1.7.5 or 1.7.6 as stable releases.

Maybe the XAMPP developers want to be sure, that the next official release (version number undefined) will be a real stable release like XAMPP 1.7.1 or XAMPP 1.7.3 :D

I had an email from Kai (Oswald) explaining that he is pushed for time with family and work commitments to compose announcements and do other necessary chores that are building in the forums for at least the next few days.
Kai's limited spare time at the moment is being concentrated on releasing 1.7.6 final and when all the versions are uploaded to the sourceforge release pages, as opposed to the beta pages, then they can be deemed to be final.

The terminology stable is not mentioned only final or new version is used.
