Isn't zend optimizer already installed with XAMPP for windows? It should be in the php folder in your xampp install.

* Actually I pointed out the correct information.

to summarize - probably not happening. Zend is not part of the XAMMP suite.

Do you have scripts that are encoded with Zen Guard?

If not - then Zend Optimizer is not for you anyway

IF you do need Zen Guard, then Zend makes a complete stack solution; Zend Server Community Edition. However, I don't think its compatible with XAMMP at a binary level. You will probably need a standalone Apache install.

You probably should inquire on their forums - and you might want to read this:
http://forums.zend.com/viewtopic.php?f= ... 178#p55623

Good Luck

NOOOO - that is eAccelerator that comes with XAMMP, its a fork of the original Zend byte-code caching system - its not an encoder. (and it works quite well with zero effort other than uncommenting the line in php.ini)

OTAY?

Using Zend Server CE is the easiest way to get the Zend components working. It's installation is quite easy and nearly working right out of the box.
Like in the XAMPP stack, the Apache you can install with Zend is compiled and configurated for exact this stack. You can't change the Apache component with another.

I think the chance to get the missing XAMPP things working on the Zend Server CE Apache is higher then the other way round, but haven't tried it yet.

Some more information about Zend Optimizer for XAMPP:
Zend Optimizer is part of Zend Guard and for PHP 5.3 it needs Zend Loader dll for PHP 5.3.
http://www.zend.com/en/products/guard/downloads

But Zend Loader only supports PHP in non thread-safe FCGI mode
http://forums.zend.com/viewtopic.php?f= ... =90#p22197

so i don't see any chance to get this working with the XAMPP releases 1.7.2 - 1.7.4.
