Hi,
I have searched on this forum already regarding this error but im sill confused and no further forward in solving this.
I am totally new to the idea of running servers and totally new to the code etc associated with this, but im willing to learn as they say. I have installed XAMPP to allow me to run a version of CS-Cart on my home PC rather than a webserver elsewhere.
Following the instructions of CS-cart i am told to install XAMPP and then using http://localhost/phpmyadmin create a MySql database. On trying to do this is get the Error 2002 and a message as below;
#2002 - The server is not responding (or the local MySQL server's socket is not correctly configured)
Connection for controluser as defined in your configuration failed.
I had both the apache and MySql servers running through the control panel and the status is as below;
httpd state 1 service 0 start 0 thread 170 op 0 port 80
mysql state 1 service 0 start 0 thread 160 op 0 port 3306
ftp state 0 service 0 start 0 thread 0 op 0 port 21
mercury state 0 service 0 start 0 thread 0 op 0 port 25
Loading up the apache control panel works, but phpmyadmin doesnt. One other thing to note when clicking on the admin but for MySql nothing happens. I dont know whether i should run anything as a service???
So far i have tried the following;
- restarting both the apache and MySql servers several times
- reinstalling XAMPP from a complete uninstallation
- from reading severla guides and forums on the internet i have tried coding out of the config php file using // the username and password lines
- i have switched off my firewall and double checked to makesure the windows firewall is off
Thinking this was a simple connectioon error i was convinced that making sure my firewall allowed access would work, but it didnt.
Having read solutions here viewtopic.php?f=16&t=47332 and viewtopic.php?f=16&t=47645&p=182758&hilit=error+2002#p182758 but i have yet to try these.
Reading that another user had issues with his firewall i am optimistic that it could still be this, however i did literally exit the firewall program so it seems unlikely.
I am a novice when it comes to servers and code etc so any solutions would need to be kept simple.
Apologies for another Error 2002 thread but i wanted to explain my situation as opposed to hijack somone else' problem.
Thanks
Tom
