port 80

Can you get apache to run on a port other than 80 or 433. Installed XMAPP on win 7 64.

Apache don't uses Port 433 by default, but 443 for SSL/HTTPS.
And yes, you can configure all ports of the single components.

Just a guess

Port 80 is the default port for the HTTP protocol.
So everytime you request an url in your browser without giving any port, your request will be send to this default port.
In the most cases, port 80 isn't blocked by firewalls which makes it very easy to use.
